For more than 40 years, Ümit's shop has been a refuge for projectors, film prints, forgotten formats and the people who love them. Rising costs and redevelopment now threaten its future.
The Last Picture Shop follows Ümit, Liam and the community around the shop as they try to protect a singular piece of East London film culture—and find a way for it to continue.
Our crowdfunder reached £53,000, passing its £50,000 target. That support has taken the film into the edit, sound mix and colour grade, while helping the new Cinematheque take shape.
